David Hulme's 'Vision'

John Meakin, UK minister and writer for the Church of God, an International Community (COGIC), resigned in September 2008following undisclosed

'differences of opinion' with its president, David Hulme.

John Meakin then joined the Living Church of God, and soon the number of congregations in the UK increased from 7 to 15, prompting Douglas Winnail, Director of Church Administration, to declare in May 2009,
"It is certainly encouraging to see the Church growth in that area of the world—especially
in light of social trends that seem to be moving in an increasingly secular and anti-Christian direction."

All these new congregations are, however, in areas where COGIC has congregations, and most of the new members are those who have followed John Meakin from COGIC.

Some indication of the unhappiness of John Meakin and ex-COGIC members

can be garnered from studying David Hulme's church and personal websites.

There is no attempt to preach the gospel to the world (Mark 16:15).
Contact with members of other church groups is actively discouraged, and

only church members and other financial supporters can gain access to the church web site.

David Hulme promotes himself, rather than the church, by posting his personal profile on various websites dedicated to business professionals.

Clicking on his internet domain www.david.hulme.name takes you to Naymz

which describes itself as "a powerful tool for any professional looking to advance their career to the next level."

Through the Linkedin network "you can: find potential clients ....
be found for business opportunities .... search for great jobs ...."

Perhaps it was via these web pages that he was able to obtain work at the Media Relations Summit 2008, where he gave a lecture in Increasing Traffic to Your Corporate Website. In the Autumn of 2008 he began lecturing in Middle East Politics at the University of Southern California.

David Hulme's profile on Linkedin lists his recent work experience as :

1986 — 1995

Vice-President of Ambassador Foundation
(Non-Profit; Non-Profit Organization Management industry)

Supervision of Ambassador Auditorium's performing arts program

The foundation was part of the Worldwide Church of God, for whom he

worked as a presenter for its TV program The World Tomorrow, but he
seems not to want to admit having worked for a church.

Reason for leaving: To join the newly formed United Church of God, after Worldwide's leader, Joseph Tkach, caused a mass exodus of members
(mostly to United) by transforming fundamental doctrines. David Hulme, Worldwide's Communication Spokesman, had however appeared to be an  advocate of the doctrinal changes.

1995 — 1998

For these three years he was President of the United Church of God.
An honourable and important job, one might have thought, but he prefers
this church association to be a blank in his profile.

Reason for leaving: He was removed as President by United's Council of Elders for excessive and unauthorized spending, plunging United into serious debt.

He drew away many members to his new church, where he would have full control over finances, the Church of Godan International Community.
Or did he? Is it a
church? Not according to his profile.

1998 — 2008

President of Vision Media
(Writing and Editing Industry)

The large outlay necessary to publish this lavish quarterly journal is
provided by the tithes and offerings of members and other financial
supporters of COGIC — yet
David Hulme considers it to be his magazine.

Clicking on the my website link on the Linkedin profile page takes you to the Vision magazine website.

Vision's contents are dominated by David Hulme's own major interests — international politics and philosophy. The banner headline on the website proclaims that Vision provides: "In-depth coverage of current social issues. Insights into the philosophical, moral and ethical values in society today —health care, science and environmental news and articles."

The Bible forms only part of "the philosophical, moral and ethical values in society today", David Hulme declaring that: "Our only goal is to re-establish the Bible as a credible voice in the discussion of ideas."

The magazine web site www.vision.org is registered to Vision Media Productions, a not for profit film production company, whose president is David Hulme. The church also provides the funds for Vision Media Productions, which is currently working on a number of secular films, the majority focusing on the history and politics of the Middle East — David Hulme's favourite topic.

For how much longer will COGIC members be willing for their tithes and offerings to be used for funding David Hulme's pet projects, rather than to:

".... make disciples of all nations, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:19,20)?
